The Town of Midland is accepting applications from artists and artisans (vendors) who are interested in selling their products on the Town Dock during the 2024 Cruise Ships visits. The artists and artisans will be accessible to both cruise ship passengers and the general public.
This opportunity is to promote and support local artists and artisans. Only artists and artisans residing in the Heart of Georgian Bay (Midland, Penetanguishene, Tay, Tiny and Beausoleil First Nation) will be considered.
We are looking for fine art and one-of-a-kind items which highlight the skills and talents of individuals who live, work and create in our community. We will not consider works that are mass-produced or that are made through assemblage of mass-produced items. Visual artists can include art cards and limited-edition reproductions. Accepted vendors can only display and sell products that they make or that have been approved by the Town of Midland.
Vendors may choose to provide demonstrations throughout the day to engage and educate potential customers. Those wishing to provide hands-on activities must adhere to public health guidelines. Any vendors conducting demonstrations must dispose of materials/solvents in an environmentally responsible manner.
We will be selecting between four and six (4-6) vendors per visit who will be provided with a space that measures approximately 10’x10’, plus space for any demonstrations. Vendors will be placed in a covered pavilion at the Midland Town Dock and need to bring their own display materials (easels, grids, tables, additional lights, etc.). Vendors must be set-up by 8:15 a.m. and may not take down before 5 p.m.
Vendors are responsible for conducting their own sales and remitting any applicable taxes. Smaller items are easier for the cruise ship passengers to transport, however, if making larger products available for sale vendors should be prepared to take on the responsibility of shipping items to customers.
NEW this year, there is a participation fee of $25.00 plus hst, per day.
Each vendor must provide proof of liability insurance listing the Town of Midland as an additional insured in the amount of $2,000,000.
If vendors do not have their own insurance they must purchase insurance for the day. The insurance must be a minimum of $2,000,000 (two million) third party liability insurance naming the Town of Midland as an additional insured and providing coverage for the date of the cruise ship visit. A Certificate of Insurance must be provided a minimum of 4 weeks before each cruise ship visit. Below are two companies that sell vendor insurance, however, you are welcome to use whoever you choose:
