Purchase an Open Air Burning Permit

Recreational backyard fires are permitted in the Town of Midland provided an Open Air Burning Permit is purchased from the Town. Permit holders must agree to follow the Town's Open Air Burning by-law No. 2023-14. Violation of the terms of the permit could result in a fine and the permit may be revoked without refund.

The cost of an annual Open Air Burning Permit is $42.00. Permits are valid during the year of purchase.

A PDF copy of the permit will be emailed to the applicant once payment is completed, normally within a few hours of completion. If you have not received it within one business day please contact us. Permits must be displayed and visible from the road. If you are unable to print a copy of the permit please contact Customer Service at 705-526-4275.

Open air burn permits will only be issued to property owners. If the applicant lives at the address but is not the property owner, a written authorization from the property owner is required. Forms can be found on the Town's website.
